UWC Mostar is seeking a Director of Student Well-being. This is a full-time position that may include a limited amount of teaching and is for a duration of two years, starting in August 2026.
In this role, you will lead the pastoral department at UWC Mostar and will oversee the residential program. The Director is part of the Senior Leadership team and reports to the Head of College. The Wellbeing department has gone through significant developments that have strengthened the department within the College. The collaboration with the Learning Department now needs to be taken to the next level. The foundation for this collaboration is there; now we need to deepen the holistic approach in the duty of care we have for our students.

The new Director will continue to assess the needs of the Department to ensure we are ready to meet the diverse social and emotional challenges visible among youth internationally, including among the young people in our care. Within the existing framework, the new Director has an opportunity to further shape the Department.

Minimum Qualifications for the Position of Director of Student Well-being
- University degree: The equivalent of an IB DP subject teaching qualification or a degree in Psychology 7 (240 ECTS).
- Meeting the conditions for being a teacher pursuant to the Law.
- Having 5 (five) years of work experience: experience in pastoral care, preferably within the IB DP and at a residential school.
- Fluent in English.
- IT skills.

Main responsibilities of the Director of Student Well-being:
A senior leadership position reporting to the Head of College, responsible for the strategic leadership and oversight of all aspects of student well-being at UWC Mostar.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Strategic leadership of the College’s student well-being provision.
- Oversight of safeguarding, health, counselling, and welfare services.
- Lead the residential well-being programme and student support systems.
- Line management of senior tutors, psychologist, nurse, house parents, student life and mentoring staff.
- Development and review of policies related to student well-being and safeguarding.
- Monitoring student welfare, support interventions, and awareness programmes.
- Collaboration with academic and pastoral teams to identify and support students of concern.
- Staff and student training related to well-being, safeguarding, and residential support.
- Membership of the College Crisis Management Team.
- Accountability to the Head of College.
The Director of Student Well-being plays a central role in ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes students’ intellectual, social, emotional, cultural, and physical development.
